John Way was first introduced to the world of software and programming when he was around eight years old through the influence of his father, who spent time ample time studying programming. His formative years left him very intrigued with computers and programming, leading him to attend Texas A&M University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in computer engineering in 1999. In the initial years of his career, Mr. Way worked for Verizon in 1999 and was an engineer for MCI from 2000 to 2004. He then spent 12 years, from 2005 to 2017, as a vendor for Hewlett-Packard.
Since 2004, Mr. Way has flourished as the founder of Pipelineapp.io, an innovative workflow engine that helps clients track their processes like packages across multiple teams, departments, and companies. The platform offers an entire team visibility on the status of each individual task and deliverable including who has the ball, who is up next, and who is responsible for each individual deliverable. For the innovative endeavor, Piplineapp.io was honored as Product of the Year in 2018. Personally, Mr. Way was the recipient of an ITSMA Marketing Excellence Award and HPE President Quality Award from the CEO in 2016.
Upon reflection, Mr. Way attributes his vast success to his high degree of curiosity and desire for further innovation. In five years’ time, he would love to look back on all the things that he has done and see the numerous companies he has helped flourish. At the end of the day, he wants to be able to help more companies have breakthroughs. With this sentiment, Mr. Way’s manta is “Constant improvement,” adding that “Most of the time, people or companies only take action for improvement when there is an emergency. When the emergency is over, they go back to their normal routine. If you and your company improve every day, you can have 365 days’ worth of improvement every day. That gets you ahead of your competition.”
